The "Falcon" , a Homer halibut highliner
Coming home loaded with halibut

The "Falcon" is a 31-foot Bertram yacht. She was made in Miami in 1975, and warm water was her home until my wife Kim and I went down to Florida in 1991 and found her tied up to the dock in Fort Pierce. To make a long story a little shorter, we bought her and had her trucked up the highway all the way to Homer, where she has been ever since. Powered with twin Cummins turbocharged B series diesel engines, she has a cruise speed of 23 knots.

The 31' Bertram is the original 1961 Ray Hunt design deep V hull. She is an excellent sea boat, and made for sport fishing. An article in "Sea" magazine once called the 31' Bertram one of the best sportfishing boats ever made. After 10 years of running her, I have to agree with them. She has a heated cabin and a large head (bathroom) on board for your comfort to and from the fishing grounds. She has a huge teak cockpit to fish from, and the engine covers are a good place to sit if your sea legs aren't working so well. She is safe, fast, stable, and reliable. All that and she catches fish too. Take a trip on the "Falcon" and see why so many come back year after year.

Havin' too much fun

For the safety of all on board, the "Falcon" has Radar, 2 GPS units, a Loran, VHF & CB radios, a Furuno video fish finder, as well as all the U.S. Coast Guard safety requirements. (Life vests, flares, etc.) She also is equipped with an 8-man life raft. Her name is "Rita" and she will keep us dry in the event of an emergency at sea
